Field Experience Assignments

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENTS (700pts)

Pre-Service Teacher Residents will be required to observe, assist s individual students and small groups, and teach small group and whole class lessons

  • Teacher Performance Appraisal- (for Feedback Only) Pre-service teachers will have a minimum two observations of teaching (one completed by the University Supervisor/one completed by the Mentor Teacher)

  • Teacher Evaluation Form  and Activity Log (Grade=Pass, Fail, or Remediation) (Provide each teacher with evaluation form and activity log. Evaluations and Logs must be returned to you in  a sealed envelope with teacher's signature on the seal or submitted directly to supervisor. Failure to submit evaluations and logs will result in course failure in addition to disposition deficiency in student record)

Lesson Plan Implementation (5-6 lessons and an Interactive Activity Board)

  • Implementation of 3 Lesson Literacy Based Instructional Sequence

  • (with Planning Commentary & Assessment of Student Learning):    350 pts

  • Implementation of Literature Based Math  Lesson -                       100 pts.

  • Implementation of Math  Lesson w/ Manipulatives -                       100 pts

  • Implementation of Science Lesson w/ Experiment-                         100 pts

  • Integrated Interactive Activity Board  (Math/Science)-                     50 pts

Important Notes

  • Teacher Residents will teach  6 lessons (3 lesson sequence and 3 math/science listed above) and the Integrated Interactive Activity Board with a small group or whole class of students at the cooperating teacher's discretion..

  • However, if possible and if it fits appropriately into the 3 lesson Sequence, residents  may "double dip" on one lesson (meaning you will actually teach 5 of the 6 required lessons with one lesson counting in the 3 Lesson Sequence and as one of the other Math/Science lessons)

  • The 3 Lesson Sequence (implemented on a Mon, Tues. Wed.) should be implemented in full by Nov. 14th. You will need to arrange with your Cooperating teacher to come to their class to teach the Second lesson in the sequence on a Tues.

  • All lessons must be pre-approved by the Mentor teacher.

  • Lesson Implementation is at the discretion of the Mentor teacher

RESOURCES

The above lessons will be planned (using the format below) in conjunction with EDRD 4500 (Literacy Methods) and EDCI 4500 (Math/Science Methods) and reviewed/approved by cooperating teachers prior to implementation.
