David Oglesby is a Mass Communications professor in the Journalism Concentration.

David A. Oglesby is an Assistant Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at Tennessee State University, where he develops and teaches undergraduate courses in journalism, news writing, race, gender and class in media, and reporting techniques.

An accomplished educator and media specialist with extensive experience across multiple formats—including television journalism, film production, creative writing, and public relations - Prof. Oglesby has taught at all educational levels, from preschool through university.

He holds an MFA in Film & Television Production from Chapman University and a BA in Interdisciplinary Humanities from the University of West Florida.

His creative work includes award-winning documentaries, children's books, and screenplays, and he is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

He has lived in Ohio, Georgia, Florida, California, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Japan. Driven by a passion for education, artistic expression, and mentorship, Prof. Oglesby is committed to bridging classroom learning with real-world media experience and fostering the next generation of storytellers and journalists.
