PhD student Beatrice Magombana won 2 ^nd place Graduate Student Geo-Poster Geochallenge Student Competition at the annual ASCE Geotechnical Institute Conference GeoFrontiers in February 2025. Her poster title is Stabilization of Construction and Demolition Waste Using Xanthan Gum-Based Hydrogel for Mechanical Improvement. Her PhD advisor is Dr. Lin Li and Dr. Shihui Liu. Dean Li also attended this conference to meet with his former PhD advisor, Emeritus Dean of Engineering at University of Virginia, Member of National Engineering of Academy Dr. Craig Benson, in a special session honoring Dr. Benson contribution in Geoenvironmental Engineering field.
