I am Sanaiya Choute, born and raised in Queens, New York. My ambitions have led me to Tennessee State University (TSU), where I am a rising junior majoring in architectural engineering with plans to minor in interior design in the fall of 2024. Coming to TSU, I wanted to join many organizations and build many relationships to start my network and school involvement in this new chapter of my life. In my first year, I joined the inaugural cohort of the Bloom Academy, which is a freshman leadership development program, while also accepted into Alpha Lambda Delta, the university's first honors program for freshman with a cumulative GPA of 3.5+. To align with like-minded students, I joined the National Society of Leadership and Success and became involved with Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI), which provided a supportive community of students who share career goals.  As a sophomore, I took on the role of Social Media Chair for AEI, engaging students through social media and promoting event participation. Additionally, I completed Braven X, a four-month program focused on professional development, leadership, and personal growth. The skills gained from Braven X have been invaluable, shaping my career approach and relationships. I also participated in a research program led by an engineering professor, which involved teaching myself a new data collection application. This experience reinforced my belief that with effort and dedication, any task is achievable. Looking forward, I am excited about continuing my research and seeking further involvement and leadership opportunities at TSU to connect with more students and foster a supportive community.

I am Azeez Folorunsho, a Nigerian American dual citizen from Miami, Florida, attending TSU on a full-ride academic scholarship. In my first year at TSU, I sought a community for Computer Science students to grow my skills and learn about opportunities, but post-COVID, such a community was non-existent. In my second year, I decided to champion my department. I stepped into a leadership role by joining the ACM chapter, helping to revive it to its pre-COVID glory. Along with the rest of the executive board, I managed to host frequent events, introduce students to opportunities, and create a supportive community for computer science students on campus. Other student leaders from clubs across the College of Engineering also stepped up, and together, we hosted many collaborative events, including the “Spooky Social” and “COE Potluck.” I contributed significantly to building the student community in the College of Engineering, and for my efforts, I was recognized and chosen to be on the planning committee for Engineers Week 2024. Despite some challenges, the week was a success. Through these experiences, I have gained confidence in my leadership abilities. I have now taken on the challenge of starting the first chapter of the Google Developer Student Club at TSU.

Enbridge Inc. provided scholarship to College of Engineering at Tennessee State University to support our top engineering students. In 2022-2023, the college has recommended two top students for this scholarship award:  Tupac Moseley and Haviah Akachukwu. Each of them received $2500 scholarship. Congratulations to Tupac and Haviah. Haviah is Mechanical Engineering senior student. She serves as ASME Student Chapter President and led Engineering Week in 2023. She has experience doing research under the DOE/NNSA MSIPP PRE-CCAP research group at Tennessee State University where she did research on “ Understanding the Flow of Microfiber DIW Epoxies through a 3D printing nozzle“. She is a member of the USDA TSU scholar group where she is currently participating in a project on Designing a DERMS that manages the output or consumption of BTM devices, and is a member of one of the two teams going to represent TSU in the USDA WERC Design contest in April. She is also a member of other organizations including ASHRAE, NSBE, SWE,AEI, and Golden Key Honors. Havilah has received multiple scholarships or awards from organizations such as ASME, Turner Construction, USDA, and TSU college of engineering. This year, she led in the organization of the 2023  TSU college of engineering’ Engineers Week. She also attended the 2023 BEYA conference. Tupac is Electrical Engineering senior student. He serves IEEE Student Chapter President. During the previous fall semester, he attended the trip to the Valero Refinery in Memphis, TN to help represent for TSU, attended the visit from EPRI, NES, TVA for GridEd in the Tiger Institute, and represented for the EECE department for the Fall Internship & Information Session TableTop. Along with 50 TSU engineering students, he  attended the 2023 BEYA conference and have been able to help put on the EECE/IEEE-led event for Engineering Week and attended some of the events throughout Engineering week. Thanks for Enbridge Support to TSU!
