Engineering Concepts Institute (E.C.I.)
(Incoming Freshman in College of Engineering Only)

The E.C.I. is a summer TEN-week virtual academic enrichment program that simulates the college experience-attending classes daily, completing homework assignments, and attending a study group session with tutors. The Institute provides an opportunity for students, who are mature and committed to educational excellence, to prepare for academic success, particularly in math, in their first year as a college freshman at TSU. The E.C.I will provide 3 credit hours MATH 1900 (online), paid by the College. When the student passes the MATH 1900 with a C or better, he/she will start in MATH 1910 (Calculus I) in Fall semester. This Math 1900 should only be taken by students enrolling with an ACT Math score of 24 or less or the SAT equivalent. Students with ACT or SAT Math equivalent of 25 or greater will automatically qualify to take MATH 1910 (Calculus 1) in the Fall 2025. The highest achieving students will be eligible for consideration of scholarship assistance for their first year of college.
