TSU College of Engineering Hosts The Boring Company for Campus Engagement and Student Outreach
Nashville, TN — The Tennessee State University College of Engineering welcomed The Boring Company to campus on Thursday, November 13, for an informational session and student engagement event designed to introduce TSU students to emerging career pathways in tunneling, transportation infrastructure, and advanced civil and mechanical engineering.
Representatives from The Boring Company spent the afternoon speaking with students about the company’s work in tunnel development, large-scale infrastructure projects, and the growing industry demand for engineers with expertise in geotechnical engineering, transportation systems, robotics, surveying, operations, and project management.
The visit included a presentation, open Q&A, and networking session where students were able to learn about:
-
Internship and co-op opportunities
-
Full-time engineering roles
-
The technical skills and academic preparation most valuable to their team
-
Innovations in tunnel construction, safety systems, and large-scale underground infrastructure
-
How multidisciplinary engineering fields — civil, mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering — intersect in the company’s work
The Boring Company’s visit also included early conversations with TSU leadership regarding potential areas of partnership, such as:
-
Scholarships and student support
-
Paid internships and co-op placements
-
Classroom engagement and guest lectures
-
Participation in future engineering recruitment events
-
Opportunities related to regional tunnel or infrastructure projects
The College emphasized that these industry interactions help prepare TSU students for competitive careers by strengthening professional readiness and expanding access to engineering sectors that are shaping the future of transportation and urban development.
