Global Student Ambassador (GSA)

 

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) seeks students to serve as OIA Student Ambassadors and represent TSU to new and prospective international students.

OIA Student Ambassador

OIA Student Ambassadors serve the international population through student interaction and programming activities. This is an opportunity for student ambassadors to work in an international environment and gain cultural competencies in addition to valuable work experience for any future career.

Desirable candidates should demonstrate good leadership, communication, reliability and organizational skills. Selected Global Student Ambassadors will represent the academic, cultural and social excellence of Tennessee State University and contribute directly to making our campus a more inclusive community. All students who meet the requirement are welcome to apply.

Requirements

  1. Must be a current Tennessee State University student who have completed at least one academic year for undergraduate students and one (1) semester for graduate student.
  2. Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required.
  4. Must commit to participate in at least two (2) Student Ambassador activities.
  5. International students, study abroad returnees or students with previous intercultural experience preferable.
  6. Yearly renewal of participation upon satisfactory completion of one academic year.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Work effectively with other Ambassadors, Graduate Assistants and OIA staff.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of OIA programming throughout the academic year.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of international student orientation activities.
  • Monthly meetings with OIA staff to discuss on-going programming activities.
  • Carry out other duties, as assigned.
