Jasmine Fripp

Jasmine Fripp is a Grammy-nominated music educator, choral director, and advocate for equitable music education. She currently serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Tennessee State University, where she has been widely recognized for revitalizing the university’s choral program with fresh energy and excellence. At TSU, she directs the University Choir, the Meistersingers, and recently reinstated the TSU Showstoppers Showchoir—bringing the ensemble back to life for the first time since 2010.

Fripp is also the founder of The Passionate Black Educator (PBE), an organization committed to empowering music educators and creating student-centered learning environments rooted in anti-racism, culturally responsive pedagogy, and healing-centered teaching. Through PBE, Fripp advocates for Black and Brown students, ensuring they have access to quality, holistic education through music, fine arts, and academic advancement.

With nearly a decade of experience in public and charter schools, Fripp has built award-winning choral programs known for their artistic excellence, culturally relevant curriculum, and superior ratings at festivals. Her students have performed at premier venues including Bridgestone Arena, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Schermerhorn Symphony Center. They have shared stages with gospel legends like The Clark Sisters and Vanessa Bell Armstrong, as well as rising country music star Tiera Kennedy. Fripp and her students have also served as background vocalists for Nashville recording artist Levi Hummon.

Her former students continue to thrive—earning admission into elite collegiate music programs, performing professionally, and creating content that garners millions of views across social media platforms. In high demand as a clinician and speaker, Fripp is celebrated for her innovative fusion of Hip Hop, choral music, and creative pedagogy. She presents nationally and internationally at universities, school districts, and professional organizations.

Beyond the classroom, Fripp is a credited songwriter, recording artist, and background vocalist. She is also an active member of The W. Crimm Singers (The Wakanda Chorale) based in Nashville, Tennessee, with performance credits alongside Stars Go Dim and Grammy-winning duo Louis York.

Fripp holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Winthrop University and a Master’s degree in Music Education from Belmont University, where she studied under Dr. Jeffery Ames. She is a proud member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
