Chemical & Laboratory Safety
Chemical & Laboratory Safety
Chemical and laboratory safety training is required for all faculty, staff, and students who meet any of the following criteria:
- The person performs work in a laboratory
- The person works with or around chemicals or chemical products in the performance of their job duties
- The person generates Hazardous Waste at Tennessee State University
- The person is an authorized, PI, qualified or general user of radioactive materials
This training will be in accordance with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.1450, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200 and the Tennessee Occupational Safety & Health 0800-1-9

PIs and laboratory managers are required to provide process specific training for persons working in laboratories, particularly when the process involves highly hazardous materials or potentially dangerous equipment.
