Partnership Among Tennessee Colleges and Universities to Increase the Number of STEM Students and Graduates

Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (TLSAMP) is a partnership of the following higher education institutions:

  • Tennessee State University (TSU)
  • Fisk University (FU) LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC)
  • LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC)
  • Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU)
  • Nashville State Community College (NSCC)
  • Southwest Tennessee Community College (STCC)
  • Tennessee Technological University (TTU)
  • University of Memphis (UMemphis)
  • University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK), and
  • Vanderbilt University (Vanderbilt)

The goal of the TLSAMP program is to increase the number of the underrepresented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students by at least 100% at the end of the five-year period.

The objectives of the Alliance are to: 

  • recurit underrepresented students to pursue a science, technology, engineering or mathematics career;
  • improve the quality of the learning environment for underrepresented science and engineering students at all schools, and
  • ensure that a larger number of undergraduate students are prepared to enter graduate programs.
