What you Need to Know
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced that the new requirements outlined in NSF Important Notice No. 149 will take effect on December 2, 2025. This update applies to all organizations and Authorized Organizational Representatives.
-
Proposals submitted before December 2, 2025 — including those submitted during the recent lapse in appropriations — are not subject to the new requirements originally planned for October 10, 2025.

The institution’s status regarding any contracts or agreements with a Confucius Institute.
-
-
Organizations must provide supporting documentation (e.g., grants, contracts, agreements) upon NSF request.
-
NSF has released a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page outlining the new requirements, certifications, and timelines. Access the FAQs here .
