The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) have granted the College of Education at Tennessee State University Probationary status. The Probationary Accreditation Status at the Initial and Advanced levels is through 2025. The site visit for re-accreditation begins April 27-29. TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY IS RECOGNIZED AS A CAEP ACCREDITED PROVIDER!

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) announced today that 43 providers from 22 states and the District of Columbia had received accreditation for their educator preparation programs. The fall 2017 review by the CAEP Accreditation Council increased to 101 providers approved under the CAEP teacher preparation standards—rigorous, nationally recognized standards developed to ensure excellence in educator preparation programs (initial programs only). On April 20, 2018, the State Board of Education approved action recommendations concerning the status of Tennessee State University as a Tennessee Educator Preparation Provider and the specialty area licensure programs offered by the university.

AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION REAFFIRMS ACCREDITATION OF THE PH.D. COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM FOR 10 YEARS!

“At its meeting on April 4-7, 2019, the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) conducted a review of the doctoral Ph.D. program in Counseling psychology at Tennessee State University. The review included consideration of the program’s most recent self-study report, the preliminary review (“admin review”), the program’s response to preliminary review, the report of the team that visited the program on November 8-9, 2018, and the program’s response to the site visit report. I am pleased to inform you that the CoA voted to reaffirm accreditation of the program, with its next site visit scheduled to held in 2028.”
