HIGHER ED ADMINISTRATION DOCTORAL STUDENTS

My database is likely to be a bit out-of-order, so if you receive this by mistake or are already graduated, etc., simply disregard this notice.  I do not have a secretary and do not have the luxury of time to review and update databases.  What I hope to do is give you some information about summer school classes and fall semester classes in order for you to do some planning and preparation.  I would expect that most of you already know what you want to take, but I urge you to contact me at some point to make sure your program of study is up to date and you are taking the appropriate courses.  Do not rely on your fellow classmates for information.  Come to the “Fountain of Knowledge” for information …. Me!

If you are just starting the program, your 1st course should be EDAD 6000, Statistics.  I am teaching 3 sections of this during the 10-week summer session:  12:00-4:30 on M; 12:00-4:30 on T; and 12:00-4:30 W at AWC.

If you have not yet taken the EDAD 7420 class (Students, Faculty, & Curriculum) or EDAD 7450 (Finance & Economics), I encourage you to take them this summer.  They are generally offered only once/year and this is the best time to take these courses.  EDAD 7420-80 is offered in summer 2 on T/R from 5:00-9:00 at AWC, Room 307.  EDAD 7450-80 is offered in summer 1 on M/W from 5:00-9:00 at AWC, Room 202.  For those just beginning the program, you should take EDAD 7400, Foundations and EDAD 7410, Diversity in Higher Education.  These are both core courses and should be taken early in your program.  EDAD 7400-80 is offered in summer 2 on M/W from 5:00-9:00 at AWC, Room 319 and EDAD 7410-80 is offered in summer2 on T/R from 5:00-9:00 at AWC, Room 319.

FOR THE FALL, 2011 SEMESTER

The new course, EDAD 7449, Marketing in Higher Education, will be offered in the fall.  There will be 2 sections of this class because I anticipate most taking it since this is the 1st time it will be offered.  I will limit the class size to 10/section.  EDAD 6090, Planning for Educational Facilities, has been dropped from the curriculum.  I will substitute an elective for this course requirement.   EDAD 6170, Organization & Administration and EDAD 7430, Seminar, will be offered.  The EDAD 7430 will be an intensive seminar on determining your doctoral dissertation study and preparing Chapters 1, 2, & 3.  I will teach this class and it will have to be limited to about 8/section.    The AGSC 6510, Advanced Geospatial Information Systems course will be offered and should be taken prior to taking EDAD 7449 since the Marketing course will have a GIS research component.  Make an effort to register for these when the schedule comes out.  There will also be the Practicum classes and Principles for Teaching Adults class available (EDAD 5180).  I will send out a schedule for the Fall as soon as it is finalized.

Let me hear from you about your progress and needs.  I look forward to a productive summer and fall.    ….Dr. Vogel
