Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (B.S.)

Are you interested in the healthcare field but prefer a role that doesn't involve direct patient care? Our Health Information Management (HIM) program could be the perfect fit. This program focuses on the management of healthcare data and information systems.

  • Minor: The curriculum includes a minor in General Business
  • Career: For those interested in healthcare, but do not desire to work directly with patients
  • Transfer Opportunities: Graduates of Health Information Technology (HIT) programs are encouraged to apply 
  • Professional Certification: Prepares graduates for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification exam administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Accreditation: Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)

Admission Information

Ready to take the next step? Here is a brief overview of the application process:

Appy to the University (New Students)

1. Begin by completing the Online Application to the Unversity at "Apply Now" During this process, you should declare Health Information Management as your intended major and General Business as your minor. You may also choose to minor in Health Informatics.

Contact the HIM Program (All Students)

1. Once you are admitted to the university (or are a current student), you must contact the HIM Program office for advisement. 

Additional Requirements for HIM Program Admission (Upper Division Courses): To be formally admitted into the HIMA upper-division courses (junior level curriculum), you must meet these additional requirements. 

1. Submit  HIM Program Application and interview virtually for the HIM Program (upper division courses) 

2. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
