University Sanctions
House Bill 4088 states that "A public institution of higher education shall notify a parent or legal guardian of a student under twenty-one (21) years of age, if the student has committed a disciplinary violation with respect to the use or possession of alcohol or a controlled substance that is in violation of any federal, state, or local law, or any rule of policy of the institution, except as prohibited (FERPA)"
This act shall take effect upon becoming law, the public welfare requiring it.
Tennessee State University will notify parents when:
1. A plea of guilty to the applicable code of conduct, or
2. A final reading of guilt to disciplinary procedures, including completion of appeal.
