Tiger Community Rehabilitation Clinic
Tennessee State University (TSU) is the first HBCU to open a student-run Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Clinic. The Clinic opened in August 2019. The Clinic's mission is to improve access to therapy services by providing free OT/PT services to the under-served, uninsured, and under-insured. The Clinic treats students, staff, and faculty of TSU as well as patients outside of the University who meet these criteria.
The Clinic treats conditions such as orthopedic injuries, muscle pain and weakness, mobility, balance deficits, incoordination, and difficulty with daily tasks. Student therapists are mentored and supervised by licensed therapists who have specialties in orthopedics, geriatrics, hands, and neurological conditions. During its first semester open, the Clinic had 137 patient appointments for OT and PT providing care for orthopedic injuries, stroke, spina bifida, head trauma, and balance deficits. See the flyer below to schedule an appointment.
