Class of 2015 | College of Engineering | Mechanical Engineering

student on campus

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Benjamin decided to attend Tennessee State University after a short career in the music industry, playing and singing lead vocals for the group, Llama. He left his music career behind in 2001 and began his journey to the University through stints as a carpenter, cabinetmaker and general contractor.

Wanting to build on his skills, he decided to come back to school to obtain his degree in Mechanical Engineering because of the location of the University and the accreditation of the program.

“”I love the opportunities Tennessee State University has given me to earn my degree. As an HBCU set in the Nashville area, the University is unique in its culture and rich history. TSU has challenged and supported me in my endeavors to become a more capable and professional person. The engineering faculty is knowledgeable and regarded as the best in their fields. I have a renewed confidence in my abilities and those of my peers to learn complex concepts and apply them to engineering problems. I know TSU will prepare me for the next step after graduation, as I pursue my graduate degree and begin my professional career.”
