Our Mission
Improve healthcare access to physical and occupational therapy services to the underserved, uninsured, and underinsured populations in the surrounding community while educating a new generation of physical and occupational therapists in the areas of competency, character, citizenship, inter professionalism, and social responsibility.
Our Vision
The Tiger Community Rehab Clinic strives to unite education and community health and wellness through physical and occupational therapy services provided at the Tennessee State University (TSU) Tiger Community Rehab Clinic. We dedicate ourselves to achieving excellence in service and education in the hope of empowering a healthier individual and a healthier community.
Our History
Since our opening in 2019, the clinic has upgraded into the new TSU Building of Health Sciences. Here, our fundraising efforts and grant awards have allowed us to fill the 1,500 sq ft clinic space with state of the art equipment and supplies so we are able to provide the best care to our community.
Leadership
The Tiger Community Rehab Clinic is 100% run and operated by its student board with direct faculty oversight. These physical and occupational therapy students engage in leadership and administrative responsibilities throughout their term to further build professional excellence. Some of these duties include:
- Recruiting clinical instructors
- Marketing to local referral sources and potential funding sources
- Scheduling patients, students, and clinical instructors
- Manage the budget and planning fundraising activities
- Ensuring that the clinic equipment is properly maintained, as well as ordering necessary supplies
- Tracking patient outcomes
Support
We strive to overcome limited healthcare access experienced by those in our surrounding community. By providing quality physical and occupational therapy at no cost to our clients, we are able to help those who might not otherwise receive these health services. The progress they achieve through treatment helps them to function and excel in their daily lives. Our ability to provide these services is completely dependent on our ability to support ourselves through fundraisers, donations, and grant awards, with 100% of all monies raised going directly back into patient care.
