Production and Sustainability
Improved Nursery Production Techniques
The objective of this research program is to develop sustainable nursery production practices to address major issues in nursery crop production with an emphasis on weed management, cover crops, and alternative soil/substrate amendments. This research will impact nursery producers through improved weed management strategies and reduction of inputs (pesticides, fertilizer, water, labor, etc.) in the nursery production system, thus enhancing the sustainability of the industry, improving our environment, and broadening the market for Tennessee green industry products.
The production and sustainability program at the TSU Nursery Research Center is led by Dr. Anthony Witcher, Research Associate Professor, Tennessee State University.
