Tennessee State University’s Presidential Search

Continuing the Legacy

At its June 7, 2024, meeting, the TSU Board of Trustees announced a new global search to find President Glenda Glover’s successor as President of Tennessee State University.  The search will be comprehensive in nature, involve the TSU community’s input, and will lead to the Board’s appointment of the next President of TSU.

Search Committee

A Search Committee will be appointed by the Board of Trustees or Board designee to assist in the presidential search process.  

Search Firm

Academic Search, a nationally recognized and reputable higher education executive search firm, has been selected to assist the Board and the Search Committee in the Presidential search.  John Garland (john.garland@academicsearch.org) and Maria Thompson (maria.thompson@academicsearch.org), both of whom serve as Senior Consultants for Academic Search, will act as the lead consultants on the search.

The next president of Tennessee State University will have:

• Extensive experience and a record of success leading large, complex organizations undergoing significant change.
  
  
• Demonstrated experience with successful fiscal and financial management and inspire confidence in all stakeholders that the university’s future is secure.
  
  
• The ability to work with and influence external stakeholders to build mutually beneficial partnerships and strengthen the university’s brand.
  
  
• The ability to build high-performing teams to strengthen university operations and focus on student success.
