The Department of Environmental Sciences is a vibrant and welcoming community of scholars, researchers, and students committed to understanding and protecting our planet’s natural systems. Our diverse faculty bring expertise in soil science, water resources, forestry, wildlife ecology, and environmental sustainability, reflecting the complex, interconnected nature of today’s environmental challenges. Alongside our faculty, dedicated staff, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scientists work collaboratively on projects that make a real difference from restoring forest ecosystems to improving water quality and promoting sustainable land use. Our graduate students play a vital role in this research, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and field methods. Undergraduate Dean’s Scholars also have the unique opportunity to work side-by-side with faculty mentors on research projects that spark curiosity, build skills, and inspire future careers in environmental science.
