What is Title VI?
"No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

Title VI Compliance at Tennessee State University
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives federal financial assistance. As a federally funded institution, Tennessee State University (TSU) is fully committed to ensuring compliance with Title VI.
This means that all TSU-sponsored programs, services, and facilities must be equally accessible to all eligible individuals, regardless of their race, color, or national origin.
Tanya Webster serves as TSU’s Title VI Coordinator, responsible for overseeing compliance efforts and addressing any Title VI-related complaints, concerns, or patterns of discriminatory behavior.
Note: Discrimination based on Limited English Proficiency (LEP) may also violate Title VI. Learn more in the LEP section below.
Title VI Compliance Plan
TSU adheres to all federal and state guidelines to ensure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Title VI Compliance Plan outlines the university’s policies, procedures, and responsibilities for preventing discrimination, ensuring access to all programs and services, responding to complaints and providing staff training and awareness
Reporting Discrimination Under Title VI
If you believe you have experienced discrimination under Title VI, you may file a complaint through the Office of Institutional Compliance and Title IX.
