Professional Biography:

Dr. Cathy D. Lovelace is a distinguished retired Captain of the United States Navy Nurse Corps, honored for her 31 years of exemplary service. A decorated war veteran, she served in combat zones including Afghanistan and participated in humanitarian missions aboard the U.S.N.S. Comfort, delivering aid to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Belize, Honduras, and Kauai.

As a Clinical Flight Coordinator, Dr. Lovelace managed the medical evacuation of over 100,000 Joint Force service members from active warzones to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany—the premier U.S. military hospital for wounded warriors—and onward to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.

With over four decades of nursing experience, Dr. Lovelace is a licensed registered nurse specializing in trauma, women’s health, pediatrics, and neonatal care. She also served five years as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner before transitioning to military education and research. At the Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute in San Antonio, Texas, she led training programs for more than 10,000 military personnel annually.

Her academic contributions span several institutions, including the University of Alabama–Huntsville, Auburn University, Faulkner University, the University of Oklahoma–Tulsa, and currently, Tennessee State University, where she has served for the past five years.

A passionate storyteller and writer, Dr. Lovelace has been published in Reader’s Digest and Navy Nurse Corps News. She currently serves as a ghostwriter for the United States Navy Nurse Corps Admiral.
