Why Use Peer Tutoring?

Peer tutoring isn't just for when you're stuck—it's a tool to help you level up your academic game. Whether you want to turn a B into an A, or just need a little clarity on a tough topic, working with a fellow student can make all the difference.

Here’s how peer tutoring helps you succeed:

  • Boost Your Grades: Research shows that students who use tutoring generally have higher GPAs.

  • A Judgment-Free Zone: It can be intimidating to ask questions in a lecture hall. Peer tutoring offers a relaxed, safe space to ask "the basics" without fear.

  • Learn Smarter, Not Harder: Tutors don’t just teach content; they share the study strategies and habits that helped them succeed in the same courses you are taking now.

  • Personalized Pace: Skip what you already know and focus entirely on the concepts where you need the most help.

  • Connect & Collaborate: Meet other motivated students and build a support network that lasts beyond the semester.

Hi Students! As the Peer Tutoring Coordinator, I am knowledgeable and informed on every aspect of tutoring at TSU in the Academic Achievement and Retention Center (A.A.R.C.). Mrs. Day-Edwards actively engages all students campuswide on the tutoring resources available at Tennessee State University to Tiger Scholars matriculating through “The Land of Golden Sunshine”.  Lastly,  I will encourage and support the excellent students of TSU, in every way possible through their college career form Orientation to Graduation! I look forward to seeing every student that seeks to be tutored by a fellow student to become the best academic possible.
