What is “15 to Finish?”
15 to Finish is a campaign that TSU uses to educate students on the importance of taking 15 or more credits in a semester. This program benefits students in the following ways:
- Promotes Degree Completion
- Fulfills Financial Aid and Scholarship Requirements
- Reduces Debt
- Accelerates Graduation
Let’s do the Math!
-
120 credits total / 15 credits per semester = 8 Semesters
-
8 semesters / 2 semesters each year = 4 Years
Students should be completing at least 30 credits a year to reach the 30/60/90 benchmark to graduate on time.
What should I do to make sure that I graduate on Time?
-
Get Advised
for every semester. From your first semester to your last, you must meet with your advisor to make sure you are taking the right courses to stay on track. Even though we have tools such as DegreeWorks and Degree Maps, you are never to self-advise.
- Students who have earned 29 or fewer credits are to be advised in the Office of Student Success. Students who have earned over 30 credits are to meet with their faculty advisor in their department.
-
Finish most of your general education requirements by the third semester of enrollment and take most of these courses as part of your first-year coursework. Students who take 15 credits per semester and complete their English and Math courses early are more likely to graduate on time.
-
Be proactive and ask for help. On campus, you’re surrounded by people and resources to help you get your degree. Ask for help from professors, teaching assistants, academic advisors, and even fellow students when you need it. The ASC has many resources that you can take advantage of!
-
Go to summer school!
Even if you can’t take 15 credits a semester, take summer classes to stay on track.
-
Access DegreeWorks for a degree audit on MyTSU and keep a copy of your degree map handy to make sure you are staying on track. If you have questions, reach out to your advisor.
