Undergraduate Pathways Program (UPP)

This program is designed for students who intend to learn English and earn college credit towards their degrees at the same time. International students will be able take English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to improve their language skills and simultaneously enroll at TSU’s academic courses that will count as credit towards their degree. This two-semester program is comprised of 8 ESL courses and 3 academic courses equivalent of 7 credits. Students fully matriculate into their undergraduate programs allowing students to have continued education after successfully completing their language training. Those who have a minimum of IELTS 4 score and meet TSU’s undergraduate admission criteria are eligible for this program.

Intensive English Program (IEP)

This program is for students who intend to enter a college or university in the US and want to develop their communication skills in four areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Designed according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the curriculum offers general language training as well as skill-based instruction with an increased focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking at higher levels. Curriculum also includes elective courses that address individual learner needs as well as an opportunity to observe an undergraduate or graduate TSU class. This program meets in person Mondays through Thursdays with a two-hour component on Fridays.

General English Program (GEP)* 

The General English courses will provide students with effective training to develop their communication skills, fluency, pronunciation, cultural knowledge and use of English. This program will prepare you for your college-level courses, improve your written and oral proficiency in English required by your employer, and train you for the language tests that you may want to take. The classes are great for students as well as for professionals. Our classes enable you to use English in a variety of ‘real life’ situations providing a wide range of functional English instruction.
*GEP is an evening program.

Executive English Program (EEP)

The Executive English Program (EEP) is a short-term language-training program aimed at corporate executives and high-level professionals who need customized language study on a flexible schedule. Syllabus, course materials and extra-curricular activities are explicitly prepared to complement the needs and profile of learners. Courses are delivered on a one-to-one basis or in small groups depending on the preference of learners.

Conversational English Program (CEP)

This program offers a combination of language study and exposure to a wide range of cultural activities in Nashville, TN. Participants of this program will not only improve their language skills but also gain an understanding of and appreciation for US Culture. This program includes field trips, cultural activities, community service and other activities that complement the syllabus on offer.

IEP CI

IEP & Cultural Immersion (IEP&CI)

This program is designed for individuals who have at least intermediate level of English and desire to have an intensive language experience. The course will help students improve their language skills and become familiar with the Southern Culture in Nashville, Tennessee.

IELTS

IELTS Test Prep Program  

The IELTS (Academic) Test Prep is a short-term intensive test preparation program that aims to familiarize students with the test so that they can perform to their full potential and obtain higher scores. The program is divided into 4 modules, with each module focusing on a skill area. There are no prerequisites for this course; however, it is recommended that students should have previously scored 4.5 or higher from the IELTS and/or have a minimum level of CEFR B1 in order to fully benefit from this program.
