NEED:

English is used worldwide, and the number of English learners is growing rapidly. As the number of English speakers and learners grows globally, so does the need for qualified TESOL teachers. The 14-hour Minor in TESOL allows undergraduate students throughout the university to complete the program of study that will lead to teaching increasing numbers of English learners around the world. Students who complete this program will be eligible to teach overseas, online, or teach adult English learners in the United States. For those who are interested in non-teaching professions, this minor will help students develop successful communication skills at the workplace as there are increasing numbers of employees who are speakers of other languages

IMPACT:

Students will be able to use this certificate to enhance their transcripts and resumes as they seek careers in diverse areas. From the departmental impact, this new degree will recruit more students outside the campus, including international students, and attract non-education majors.
