Top Life Defining Moments in Higher Education:
- Making the choice in my family to go on to college – the Bachelor’s degree was for my family, the Master’s degree was for my career, this doctorate is for every black and brown child who has dared to dream!
- My grandparents seeing me walk across the stage.
- Being able to travel all over presenting on research that is near and dear to me!
- Being able to teach undergraduate and graduate students in a field that I’m passionate about!
When in College, I Experienced:
- Learning who I am, what I believe, and what I represent
- Battling imposter syndrome
- Navigating college with little support from family
- Financial stress and uncertainty
- Relocation away from everyone that I’ve ever known
